Exploring Healthy living through Living Lab realm.
Through a fruitful and powerful collaboration we explore the field of Health, Wellbeing and Sustainable Happiness in a jointly organized conference: Health and Wellbeing Living Lab Symposium and the Smart Healthy Environments World Conference 2025.
Innovating Health and Daily Life through Living Labs
By placing multi-stakeholder collaboration at the heart of innovation, Living Labs play a transformative role in addressing pressing societal challenges. These include the complexities of ageing societies, widening socio-economic health disparities and transforming (clinical) care and everyday living environments. Living Labs have the potential to make significant contributions to health and wellbeing and creating smart healthy environments. This conference will address state-of-the-art research that explores Living Labs as pivotal ecosystems for transforming all areas of health and wellbeing, including clinical care, smart environments, disease management, public health and prevention to name a few.
DAY 1 Health and Wellbeing Living Labs
HWLL second edition: on the first day the focus will be 'Living Labs in Health and Medicine: Collaborative Innovation for Transforming Care and Wellbeing'.
By placing multi-stakeholder collaboration at the heart of innovation, Living Labs play a transformative role in addressing Health and Wellbeing challenges. They have the potential to make significant contributions in key areas such as cancer research, non-communicable diseases, and the wellbeing of children, adolescents, and older adults. Their role in clinical environments and medical services is equally crucial. By assessing the impact and envisioning the future of Living Labs, the conference seeks to drive forward research and innovation in Health and Wellbeing. In addition, the conference will foster discussions on innovative methodologies for stakeholder engagement, ethical considerations, and the challenges of data management in this domain.

SHE2025: the second day of the conference will delve into Smart Healthy Environments. This encompasses the intricacies of healthy living and the creation of spaces that foster sustainable happiness. The synergy between the built environment, healthcare, and technological innovations drives us to tackle both scientific and practical challenges. This encourages a deep exploration aimed at creating an environment that not only enhances individual wellbeing but extends to enhancing collective health of our communities all while honoring the natural world and by underscoring the imperative to respect and preserve nature.
Living labs emerge as pivotal spaces for this exploration toward a healthier, more inclusive, and caring environments. We address pressing global challenges: the complexities of ageing societies, increasing social economic health differences, the imperative for sustainable and human-centered solutions, and the shortage of (care) professionals. The conference serves as a global stage to delve into the collaborative potential of Living Labs, navigating challenges collectively on a worldwide scale.

Submission Guidelines
The aim of this jointly organized conference is to discuss the state-of-the-art recognizing the unique role of Living Labs as being transformative and innovative platforms: Living Labs as Catalysts for Exploration towards inclusive and happy living. We invite you to submit a scientific conference paper or research poster on your research on innovation for transforming care and wellbeing and/or on the ultimate relationship between merged socio-technological-spatial innovations as an answer to societal developments such as the ageing population and economic health differences. The contributions are subject to a blind peer review process.
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference.
Guidelines for abstracts
- Abstracts should be written in English
- Title: try to be concise
- Keywords: maximum of 5 keywords
- The length of the abstract: 500 words (maximum), excluding references and tables
- Abstract structure: background and aim, research methods, most important results, and conclusion
When accepted, the following guidelines apply:

- Title: try to be concise
- Abstract: maximum of 200 words, including background and aim, methodology/approach, most important result, and conclusion.
- Keywords: maximum of 5 keywords
- The length of the paper is 3000 words (maximum), excluding references and tables
- Paper structure: introduction, methodology, results and analysis, discussion and conclusion, acknowledgements, references
- Use the MS Word format template to submit your conference paper
Guidelines for Extended abstracts
- Extended abstracts should be written in English
- Title: try to be concise
- Elements: introduction with background and aim, methodology, important results, discussion and conclusion
- Keywords: maximum of 5 keywords
- The length of the extended abstract: 1.000 words (maximum), excluding references and tables
- Use the MS Word format template to submit your extended abstract
