Conference on Technology Ethics (TETHICS) has for six years now provided a platform for presenting and discussing theoretical and applied research on ethics and information technology.
We invite researchers, professionals, students, and other stakeholders interested in technology ethics to the 7th annual Conference on Technology Ethics (TETHICS 2024) organized in Tampere, Finland on 6.–7.11.2024.
The key aim of TETHICS2024 is to provide researchers and other stakeholders a casual and relaxed environment to present research, discuss ethical challenges and opportunities related to information systems, and to network beyond the borders of academia.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
- Short papers (5-9 pages and 2500 to 4000 words, including references)
- Long papers (10-15 pages and 5000 to 7500 words, including references)
TETHICS 2024 calls for papers that present scientific and/or practical contributions on topics and themes related to information systems and ethics broadly construed. Suitable topics and themes include but are not limited to:
- Data and AI ethics
- Ethical design of information systems
- Ethics in software development
- Philosophical foundations of the ethics of information systems
- Technology ethics in specific application domains (e.g., education, medicine, military)
- Ethics of automation and digitalization
- Business ethics and technology ethics
- Teaching technology ethics
- Ethical regulation and governance of information systems
Submitted papers are expected to meet applicable research ethical standards. Working papers are also welcomed, provided the submitted work is original, of good quality, and meets other requirements described here.
We encourage people from different fields, philosophical and scientific disciplines, cultural backgrounds, and underrepresented communities to participate and submit their work, including PhD students and undergraduate students who wish to present research plans, initial work, and/or tentative findings.
Submitting the Paper
Authors should use the CEUR template for single-column manuscripts and follow the formatting guidelines included therein. The template is available for both Microsoft Word and Overleaf.
More than one (1) first-author papers will not be accepted from any given author. An author may, however, be included as a co-author (e.g., second or third author) in other papers submitted to TETHICS2024.
Papers should be submitted through EasyChair carefully following the required format and other instructions.
Review
Authors should submit an anonymized paper as papers will go through a double-blind review process. Authors of submitted papers may be requested to review other submissions. The organizers retain the right to reject (a) papers lacking proper anonymization and (b) papers that are not formatted according to the submission guidelines without review.
Authors of the accepted papers will be invited to revise their work if necessary prior to submitting final, “camera-ready” versions.
