APAN spans broad themes of systems, cognitive and computational auditory neuroscience, touching on the following topics:

APAN is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for scientific communication. Women and under-represented minorities are strongly encouraged to register for the conference, submit research abstracts, and apply for the Junior Faculty Award.
For everyone attending APAN (whether or not you are submitting an abstract)
- APAN will be held on October 4, 2024, 8AM - 6PM CDT, in Chicago, IL, USA.
- Registration fee is $80 for students and postdocs, and $150 for faculty and other non-trainees. Registration covers access to the full day of talks and posters, as well as continental breakfast and coffee.
- Note that conference registration is separate from abstract submission. Even if you submit an abstract here, please also register to attend at https://www.med.upenn.edu/apan/registration.html
- Early registration is encouraged (how about right now?).
For submissions of research abstracts
- Abstract submission deadline is June 14, 2024.
- Presentations will take the form of short talks, poster teaser talks, and posters. The APAN Organizing Committee will evaluate submitted abstracts blind to author names and demographics. A subset of submissions will be selected for podium presentations or brief poster teasers at the meeting. Posters will be presented during two poster sessions. If the senior author of an abstract is chosen for the JFA, their regular abstracts would not also be chosen for an oral presentation or poster teaser.
- Abstracts can be submitted through this EasyChair website, using the abstract submission link: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=apan2024.
- Authors may be listed on multiple submissions but may be the presenting author for only one abstract.
- Submitting an abstract does not register you for the conference! Don't forget to also register at the APAN website: https://www.med.upenn.edu/apan/registration.html.
For Junior Faculty Award (JFA) applicants
- Previously known as the Young Investigator Symposium (YIS)
- The JFA application deadline is June 14, 2024.
- The JFA is an opportunity for Principal Investigators who have had an independent position for 3-7* years to present a 25-minute spotlight talk during the meeting. *This time limit will be adjusted for applicants who indicate time taken off work for parental or personal leave.
- We encourage all to apply, but we will prioritize applicants with a strong research track record, including senior-author publications.
- We wish to particularly encourage submissions from women, BIPOC, and other historically minoritized faculty applicants.
- If you know someone who is eligible for the JFA, please encourage them to apply or nominate them yourself. You may also email their details to apanchair@apanhearing.org by 1 June 2024, and we will encourage them to apply directly.
- JFA applications should be submitted by email, not through Easy Chair. See here for detailed instructions: https://www.med.upenn.edu/apan/junior-faculty-award.html
- JFA applicants are also welcome to submit a research abstract(s) separately as presenting or senior author.
For Mentor Lunch participants
- The popular APAN Mentor Lunch is happening again this year.
- More details on how to sign up as a mentor or mentee will be sent to the APAN email list soon. Watch that space!
