Neutron Flux Measurement with Indium Flakes in the IPN Subcritical Nuclear Reactor

EasyChair Preprint 10499

11 pagesDate: July 8, 2023

Abstract

The distribution of the neutron flux in the central region of the subcritical reactor of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional is measured experimentally using the lamella activation method. There is a sample holder support and a tool to insert and remove the assembly of the samples to be irradiated in the core. The slides are analyzed in a multichannel system with a sodium iodide detector. The results of the measured Indium flakes provide the activity of these which, through a Fortran program adapted by the nuclear engineering area of the Department of Physics, provides the calculated values of the average subcadmic, epicadmic and total neutron flux, the values obtained for the subcritical are: 1.7575E+03, 1.8033E+03 y 3.56E+03 n/cm2-sec respectively

Keyphrases: Activación, Flujo Neutrónico, Medición
