Assisted by DC symmetrical decomposition, the proposed control over neutral current is decoupled from power transfer without the need for access to internal design of converters. A generic mathematical model is derived to quantify the robustness against measurement error of DC current without detailing internal design of converters. Through comparisons between 3 types of Pseudo-steady State simulations with MATLAB/Simulink and Electro-Magnetic Transient (EMT) simulation in the Real Time Digital Simulation (RTDS) environment, the outcomes confirm the applicability of the proposed methodology and feasibility of controlling selected neutral currents for a multi-terminal-multi-vendor HVDC grid. Keyphrases: DC symmetrical decomposition, HVDC Interoperability, Neutral current control, robustness
